Core and cuttings degasser

This degasser consists of:

The vacuum head fits to both the short and long cylinder and is able to produce a vacuum after having filled the cylinders with degassed water.

The gas existing in the cores or cuttings is extracted within a time of approx. 15 min. After receiving the gas sample an analyze of the gas takes place.

The degassing gives not only an answer on the question, which type of gases exist in the layer, but also gives indications on the porosity and permeability of the formation.

The total amount of gas received is an indication for the porosity.

The time needed for degassing shows the approximate permeability.
